Harambee Stars has received a major boost ahead of their maiden appearance in the CHAN tournament after President William Ruto pledged a cash reward of Ksh 600 million, should they emerge champions.

Should Kenya reach the semifinals, they will get a cash reward of Ksh 70 million, and Ksh 60 million, for reaching the last eight.

Speaking while hosting the team for breakfast early Saturday, Ruto pledged a cash reward of Ksh 1 million per player for each victory and Ksh 500,000, for each draw result.

Other teams in Group A with Kenya are Angola, two-time champions Morocco, and Zambia.

The president urged Kenyans to rally behind Harambee Stars throughout the tournament.

He was accompanied by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi, Local Organising Committee Chairman Nicholas Musonye, and other dignitaries.
