3,500 riders to take part in this Weekend’s Grand Nairobi Bike race

Over 3,500 cyclists are set to take part in the 5th edition of Jubilee Insurance backed-The Grand Nairobi bike race scheduled October 5th at the Nyayo national Stadium.

According to a communique from the organisers this years edition has attracted riders from 20 countries.

Traffic interruptions are likely with temporary road closures set for Saturday midnight to midday on Sunday.

Organisers emphasized the signifance of the tournament which they say was priceless.

“Beyond the competition and the excitement, we are shining a light on two causes that touch lives directly. First, the need for mobility and dignity for amputees, where access to prosthetic limbs remains a major challenge. Second, we are driving environmental action through planting trees, setting up kitchen gardens, and restoring water towers in marginalized schools. This is about protecting today’s communities while giving future generations a healthier tomorrow,” she said. This year’s edition also comes with increased prize money’’, remarked Caroline Ndungu, Group Head – Marketing and Corporate Communications at Jubilee Insurance.

A prize purse of Ksh.4million is set aside for the top performers.’’The Jubilee Live Free Race now offers KES 4 million in prizes, up from KES 3 million last year. That recognition will inspire cyclists to push harder, train longer, and aim higher,” added Ms. Ndungu.
