Police in Nairobi have arrested four men and recovered a plastic revolver loaded with rubber bullets following a patrol along Kenyatta Avenue in the early hours of June 4, 2025.
The incident occurred at around 1:25am after officers received a tip-off from members of the public who had spotted one of the suspects displaying what resembled a firearm at a petrol station.
Police intercepted the group inside a vehicle parked at the station and conducted a search, which led to the discovery of the fake revolver, six rubber bullets, and a knife inscribed with the word “AK47.”
“In the early hours of 4 June 2025, at approximately 0125 hours, police officers on night patrol along Kenyatta Avenue intercepted four male suspects at a petrol station inside a motor vehicle. The intervention followed a tip-off from members of the public, who had observed one of the individuals brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, arousing suspicion,” the NPS stated
According to the National Police Service, all four suspects appeared intoxicated at the time of arrest.
They were taken into custody for further questioning, and the vehicle was impounded as investigations continue.
