Daniel Simiyu Dominates 10,000m as NPS Championships Get Underway

World Championship silver medalist Daniel Simiyu lived up to expectation cruising to victory in the 10000m men’s event during the National Police Championships ongoing at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi.

Among day one highlights was Abel Kipsang’s commanding performance in the men’s 15000m race. Fresh from his triumph at the Kipkeino classic, he displayed his dominance, securing victory for the Eastern region.

The Tug of War was the fans favorites with GSU and ASTU advancing to today’s final. Meanwhile team Nairobi dominated the mixed relay event, which is rapidly gaining popularity. The race featured Male and Female athletes working together to pass the baton seamlessly with precision and speed.

Notable Athletes with regional an international recognition like 400m Runner William Rayan and former 800m Commonwealth champion Wycliffe Kinyamal who are all taking part in this year’s championships.

The two day event will be used by the National Police to select a team that will take part in the forthcoming National Championships scheduled for 26th -28th June 2025.

The Athletics Kenya (AK) Will use the National Championships to select a team to represent Kenya at the World Athletics Championships in Japan Tokyo, slotted to start from the 13th  – 21st September 2025.
