Harambee Stars showed shear brilliance as they held on to beat a star-studded two time champions Morocco 1-0 ,in a Group A match  of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) played on Sunday at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

Ryan Ogam scored the only vital goal in the 42nd minute, which was followed by mixed feelings after Erastus Erambo was sent off for a bad tackle after the Video Assistant Referee review.

Head coach Benni McCarthy was forced to play defensively in the entire 2nd half with only 13% ball possession against 87% for the Atlas Lions, who enjoyed the lion’s share.

Morocco were unlucky, as their forward line wasn’t clicking at all and missed a host of chances as they saw their 14-match unbeaten record go up in flames.

The man of the match award went to Byrne Omondi of the Harambee Stars, who kept Kenya in the game and helped them gain the three vital points.

The win shows Kenya extend its lead on top of pool A on 7 points, followed by Angola with 4 after beating Zambia 2-1, while Morocco and DRC are 3rd and 4th, respectively, on 3 points apiece.
