President Ruto hosts diaspora engagement with Kenyans living in Qatar

The government is empowering Kenyans in the diaspora to thrive and contribute to national growth.

President William Ruto says the government has streamlined diaspora services, reduced passport processing time from three months to just three days for those with job offers, and is facilitating their travel to take up these opportunities.

Ruto spoke in Doha Qatar during an engagement with the Kenyan diaspora community on the sidelines of the United Nations social development summit.

Here the Head of State reiterated the government`s commitment to safeguarding Kenyan workers seeking employment beyond the borders with the closure and deregistration of more than 600 rogue labor agencies. Deployment is now limited to countries with formal bilateral labor agreements with Kenya

The government is at the same time pursuing new agreements to secure skilled and professional job opportunities for Kenyans abroad, enabling our youth to access better-paying roles, gain advanced skills, and bring valuable experience back home.

Kenyans in Diaspora chairperson Dr Omar Farah called on the government to continue safeguarding the welfare of Kenyans seeking employment in the diaspora, with the government adding that its exploring ways to enable the youth to access better paying roles, gain advanced skills and bring valuable experience back home.
