Women in Technology and Innovation Africa (WITIA) is calling for enhanced partnerships between art, technology and innovation spaces to tap into opportunities available in the creative economy.
Speaking during the WITIA Creative Show 2026, WITIA founder Eunice Pohlmann said creators in Africa could unlock immense opportunities by linking their art to technology.
“The WITIA Creative Show is more than an event; it is a movement that seeks to bridge art, technology and innovation. We believe the future belongs to creators who are able to combine culture, storytelling and digital tools to shape new possibilities for Africa,” said Eunice Pohlmann, Founder WITIA.
According to official estimates, Kenya’s creative economy is on a rapid growth path, and is projected to contribute at least Ksh 500 billion to the economy this year equivalent to 5pc of the country’s GDP.
The show provided a platform for creatives, students, innovators, cultural practitioners, policymakers, entrepreneurs and development stakeholders from across the country to collaborate, secure mentorship, visibility and investment in Kenya’s growing creative and digital economy.
“The intersection between technology and art is redefining how we preserve heritage, communicate ideas and create impact. By bringing together creatives and innovators, we are opening doors for collaboration, research, education and sustainable growth within the creative economy,” noted Dr. Bella Namango, WITIA Advisory Member.
The show also explored the growing intersection between technology and artistic expression, with discussions focusing on digital storytelling, creative entrepreneurship, innovation, cultural preservation, artificial intelligence in the arts, digital content creation and opportunities within Africa’s evolving creative industries.
“Partnerships are essential in building inclusive and impactful creative spaces. Through collaboration with institutions, organizations and communities, we can create platforms that empower women, youth and emerging creatives to thrive,” added Gracie Wamwandu, WITIA Fundraising and Partnerships Lead.
The event brought together policymakers, artists, innovators, cultural practitioners, institutions and development partners for a full-day celebration of creativity, culture and digital innovation.
