The Ministry of Health has extended the deadline for healthcare facilities to migrate to the Digital Health Agency (DHA)-certified Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) by one month, giving providers until November 30, 2026, to complete the transition.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said the extension follows requests from healthcare providers and progress made in migrating facilities from the Social Health Authority (SHA) Provider Portal to the new digital systems.

The SHA Provider Portal will be deactivated on November 30, after which facilities that have not migrated risk disruptions to service verification, pre-authorisation and claims submission and processing.

“The DHA continues to offer technical support, including HMIS onboarding, system integration, troubleshooting, user training and coordination with HMIS vendors,” Duale said.

According to the Ministry, all 6,427 public Level 2-4 health facilities have completed the migration, while 22 of the 28 public Level 5 facilities have transitioned, representing 79 per cent.

However, adoption among faith-based facilities remains at 37 per cent, with 190 of the 518 facilities having migrated. A further 371 private facilities have also completed the transition.

The Ministry clarified that claims already submitted through the SHA Provider Portal will continue to be processed in line with existing requirements.

Healthcare providers have been urged to complete the migration before the November 30 deadline to avoid interruptions in accessing SHA services and ensure continuity of care for beneficiaries.
