Body of Kenyan police officer killed in Haiti arrives

The body of Kenya Police Officer who died in Haiti arrived in Kenya Monday evening.

Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai, who was part of the Kenyan-led Multi-National Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti to restore order to the country, was killed last month while on patrol.

The body was received by Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

This follows a visit by the Inspector General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja, on March 2, 2025, during which he condoled with the officer’s family and friends at Naserian Village, Kajiado East Sub-County, Kajiado County, as they mourned his passing.

The body was later transferred to Chiromo Mortuary for preservation, with burial arrangements set for a later date.

DIG Masengeli was accompanied by Commandant BPU Mr. James Kamau, SAIG, Director of Medical Services APS Madam Lilian Kanini, CP, and NPS Spokesperson Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, CP.

Also, in attendance were Kajiado County Senator, Hon. Peris Tobiko, family members, and friends of the deceased, led by late Samuel’s father, Mr. Kaetuai, and family spokesperson, Mr. George Kimiti.
