The highly anticipated MadfunXperience featuring Grammy Award-winning superstar Burna Boy is set to take place at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi this Saturday – March 1.

Burna Boy, who will be the headliner for the MadfunXperience, will be joined on stage by Kenya’s Charisma, Bensoul and South African Amapiano DJ and producer Virgo Deep.

With thousands of attendees expected, security is a top priority for both the organisers and the police. Lang’ata Sub-County Police Commander Monica Kimani, has assured concertgoers that stringent security measures will be put in place.

“There will be no room for any aspect of criminality. We will also secure hotels where guests are staying and ensure smooth traffic flow,” she stated.

Given past experiences at concerts in Kenya, Ms Kimani assured attendees that those mistakes would not be repeated.

“We have learned from past experiences and we are better prepared to provide security in and out of the event venue. We have increased the number of police officers, both uniformed and undercover in and out of the concert venue. There will be no room for hooliganism,” said Ms Kimani.

She added that culprits of all fraudulently acquired tickets will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law, adding that “the image of our country, both locally and internationally, depends on how we carry ourselves.”

She also said that law enforcement agencies will be working closely with Madfun to provide a safe environment, including strict security checks at entry points and increased surveillance.

Expect traffic disruptions

Police have further encouraged motorists to plan for traffic snarl-ups ahead of the event. The concert is expected to cause congestion on roads such as Lang’ata Road, Likoni Road, and the link from the Southern Bypass to Likoni Road via the Carnivore grounds.

With gates are expected to open at 3 PM and will close at 9 PM. Attendees will not be allowed to enter the venue after the gates close. As such motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly, especially at the beginning and towards the end of the concert.

Madfun Managing Director Joy Wachira also encouraged attendees to stay up-to-date by following Madfun’s official channels of communication.
