Cakehearts International Hospitality Institute has announced its Cake Picnic event, scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Nairobi.
The community-centred event invites cake enthusiasts, home bakers, and the general public to come together and share in a celebration of cake. Each attendee is required to bring a 2-kilogram cake, either homemade or store-bought, as part of the entry requirement.
“As the leading culinary institute, CIHI want to build a community of entrepreneurs, businesses and food lovers who are coming together to enjoy the thing we love most, FOOD,” the company said of the event.
Tickets to the event will cost KSh 300 and are available for purchase on the company website.
The fee is redeemable at the venue for beverages such as tea, coffee, or water. The specific location of the picnic is yet to be disclosed and will be communicated closer to the event date.
Organisers have emphasised safety and ingredient transparency. All cakes must be accompanied by a full list of ingredients to inform attendees of potential allergens. A security team will be present to inspect cakes before they are allowed on the shared table to ensure they meet event standards.
Participants will receive cake boxes for sampling and taking home different cake varieties. The event is limited to adults, and children will not be allowed entry.
The Cake Picnic has several sponsors, including Lyons Maid, Melvins and Rebune, to name a few. The owner of the best decorated cake will win a Rebune mixer at the end of the day.
“We’ve partnered with amazing businesses that are going to make this event the best yet. We’ve partnered with Rebune for one winner for the most well-decorated cake…to stand a chance to win a stand mixer,” the company said.
