Fans attending the ongoing African Nations Championship are calling on the local organising committee and CAF to lift the ban on carrying water into the stadium during match days.

The fans claim that the stadium’s policy prohibiting people from bringing food, beverages, or water on game days has hit them hard, particularly parents who bring kids who end up starving throughout the game.

“We’ve complained to the organisers that they ought to let us buy our water and beverages or sell them inside the stadium. Throughout the game, children are malnourished and denied food, water, and any other essential resources. One of the DRC supporters stated, “They should take a look at that. Children are starved during the game, without food, water, or anything else. One of the DRC supporters stated, “They should take look at that.”

As a security precaution, CAF CHAN LOC prohibited supporters from bringing food, beverages, or other objects into the stadium on game days.

”It’s the first time  we are seeing this in CAF matches, and we are not happy about it, and it should stop,” another spectator said

However, despite the ban, there’s no sale of drinks, snacks, or food inside the stadium during match days.

A total of 12 matches have been played so far in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda since the 8th edition of the CHAN kicked off on the 2nd of this month.
