The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Guo Haiyan, on Wednesday met with the top leadership of Kenya’s ruling party, the United Democratic Movement (UDA).
During the meeting at the UDA Headquarters in Nairobi, Guo engaged with Cecily Mbarire, the Chairperson of the UDA Party, and Secretary-General Hassan Omar Hassan. Both sides committed to enhancing communication between their parties, which they described as a crucial component of China-Kenya bilateral relations.
“We expressed our commitment to actively implement the consensus reached by our leaders and to strengthen collaboration in sharing governance and party-building experiences between China and Kenya,” stated Ambassador Guo following the meeting.
The UDA confirmed in a statement that the discussion focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and fostering relations between the two ruling parties: the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the UDA.
“The Ambassador commended Kenya’s Affordable Housing Project and the Taifa Care programmes being rolled out by the Government, describing them as revolutionary initiatives that enhance the social welfare of the Kenyan population,” the party said.

The latest meeting served as a follow-up to the UDA Secretary-General’s recent visit to China, reinforcing commitments made and exploring avenues for practical implementation.
“Both parties affirmed their commitment to continued collaboration within the framework of mutual respect and strategic partnership,” the party stated.
Other officials present during the meeting included UDA Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, Director of Programs Daniel Kiptoo, Director of Communication Rob Jillo, Director of Events Grace Murugi, Special Advisor to the Secretary-General Sebastian Mwangangi, Counsellor Sun Yinan, and First Secretary Li Dezheng.
