Bomet-based Administration Police Service (A.P.S) FC has maintained the lead in the ongoing Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division 1 Zone B league despite failing to register a win in two consecutive matches.
A.P.S FC is leading the log with 45 points, six points ahead of second-placed Compel FC after 23 rounds of matches.
They were held to a barren draw in their latest match against Bungoma Superstars on Sunday in a hotly contested match.
Despite making several attempts, A.P.S. failed to find the back of the net.
A.P.S head coach Alfred Chole heaped praises on his charges saying they played as per their plan..
“I am satisfied with the way my team played. Though I wanted a win to recover from our loss to Bondo United FC, at least I have survived a scare of being robbed of more points,” added Chole.
The tactician said his focus has now been turned to the next match against Transfoc at Bomet IAAF Stadium slated for Saturday.
“We cannot afford to further drop points and as we prepare for the next match we are anticipating a big win so that we retain our hope of being crowned champions,” said Chole.
He added: “Our eyes are on the main prize and we do not take anything for granted so we are approaching each game with a lot of caution so that we do not make mistakes.”
Bungoma Super Stars Assistant Coach Juma Francis said they are relieved they picked a point in the match.
Juma said that from the start the match proved tough and scared them after losing three previous matches.Bungoma Superstars which is placed 7th on the log with 33 points have two games at hand.
Juma said they hope to secure a win in the matches and boost their title hopes. The assistant Coach was however not happy with the officiating of the match saying the center referee failed to factor in time wasted by opponents in the match.
“As much as we tried piling pressure on our opponents, the match officials did not factor in time wasted and decided to end the match when we had gained momentum and hoped to secure a win,” he lamented.
Nonetheless, Juma exuded confidence ahead of their midweek fixture against St Joseph’s Youth.
“We are not looking back and the results of our match cannot dictate the fate of our next match,” he said adding he is optimistic about securing a win before facing Kiminini Combined on Sunday.
