Health Ministry allays outbreak fears in Mombasa

The Ministry of Health has moved to allay growing fears over a possible outbreak of a mysterious disease in Mombasa County, following the deaths of four people in the Mikindani area.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, confirmed that the Government is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves.

Eyewitnesses in Mikindani area claim the deceased had strange marks on their bodies, triggering fears of a possible disease outbreak.  

However, Ministry of Health is urging for calm. The Director General of Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, said there is currently no evidence of a disease outbreak.

Dr. Amoth said the Ministry of Health has already dispatched a team to Mikindani to collect samples for further investigation.

The Ministry of Health is urging the public to maintain the highest standards of hygiene.
