Days after finishing an incredibly successful stint at Internazionale, Simone Inzaghi has been assigned to coach Al Hilal in the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup.
Al Hilal have pulled off a considerable coup by coaxing Simone Inzaghi into their hot seat.
The 49-year-old Italian has been tasked with masterminding success at the first FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, where they will play Real Madrid C.F., FC Salzburg and CF Pachuca in Group H.
“I know Al Hilal well, thanks to my constant following of Arab football, especially after my previous visits to the Kingdom while managing Lazio and Inter Milan,” said Inzaghi.
“My goals with Al Hilal are clear: to win titles, play entertaining football, and implement my style based on speed, intensity and determination.”
Inzaghi moves to Riyadh following a glorious four-year spell in charge of FC Internazionale Milano.
The former striker guided them to six trophies, including the Scudetto in 2023/24, and two UEFA Champions League finals, which they lost to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
The latter came after Inzaghi’s tactics undid FC Bayern München and Barcelona in the last eight and semi-finals, respectively.
Inzaghi will inherit a star-stacked squad, including Yassine Bounou, Kalidou Koulibaly, Joao Cancelo, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Malcom, Salem Al-Dawsari, Aleksandar Mitrovic, and Marcos Leonardo.
Al Hilal holds the record for four Asian championships.
They upset CR Flamengo to get to the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final in 2022, then put Real Madrid to the test with a thrilling 5-3 defeat.
