JKIA´s Terminal 1E temporarily closed over fire incident

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has redirected all flight arrival operations at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Terminal 1E to Terminal 1A until further notice.

This following a fire incident that occurred at JKIA’s, Terminal 1E on Monday morning caused by an electric fault.

In a statement on X, Kenya Airports Authority noted that Power to Terminal 1E Terminal 1E which is used for international arrivals and departures has been temporarily shut off as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all within the premises.

According to KAA the situation was quickly contained with no injuries or casualties resulting from the incident.

“To mitigate any inconveniences this may cause, all flight arrival operations have been redirected to Terminal 1A until further notice.” Stated KAA.

KAA has assured passengers, staff and stakeholders of safety and security at their facilities noting that it is taking all necessary steps to minimize disruptions and return to normal operations.

“KAA is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers, staff and stakeholders at our facilities and is taking all necessary steps to minimize disruptions and return to normal operations as swiftly as possible.” KAA stated.
