Kakamega Homeboyz open  three point lead as Tusker resurgence continues

Kakamega Homeboyz opened a three point lead at the top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after defeating APS Bomet 2-1 in a terse mid week fixture played Wednesday at Kiprugut Chumo Stadium,Kericho.

John Omondi handed Homeboyz the lead after five minutes before APS drew level  six minutes later through captain James Khaleha with the two sides going to the breather level.

However Homeboyz who were targeting to consolidate their lead at the top of the standings found the second goal in the 49th minute when Boniface Onyango headed home Estone Omengo’s delivery.

Despite APS  intensifying their efforts to find an equalizer ,Homeboyz backline stood firm to walk away with the vital win.

Homeboyz now leads the standings with 13 points,three points ahead of second placed Bidco United  while APS dropped to the bottom of the pile with three points from five games.

Meanwhile Tusker Fc recorded their second win on the bounce overcoming a distarous start to move to 6th position with 8 points,five points adrift of leaders Kakamega Homeboyz.

The 12-time winners defeated Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 with Eric Kapaito and Dennis Oguta scoring  goal a piece to ensure Brewers back to back win.

Brewers moved to sixth on the standings while Sharks second d second successive loss leaves them in 14th place.

At Gusii Stadium,hosts Shabana FC suffered their third consecutive loss after losing 1-2 to 1998 champions AFC Leopards.

Victor Omune and James Kinyanjui scored in the second half to hand head coach Fred Ambani second win on the road.

The loss compounds Shabana’s woes who have failed to win a game since beating Bandari on the opening day of the season.
