Kenya Railways resumes commuter train services

Kenya Railways has announced the resumption of commuter train services in Nairobi and Machakos Counties from 7th May 2024.

In a statement Monday evening, Kenya Railways said that normal operations shall resume on the following routes; Embakasi Village, Lukenya, the SGR link train and Syokimau.

However, the management noted that commuter services for Limuru and Ruiru remain suspended due to ongoing repair works on the rail lines.

“We also wish to advise the public that commuter train services are subject to change at short notice, depending on weather conditions and other safety considerations,” said Kenya Railways.

Kenya Railways suspended all commuter train services last month due to the ongoing heavy rains that affected the rail lines; a move the management said was a precautionary measure to ensure safety.

Kenya Railways had promised to issue an update once normal operations resume.
