In a showcase of creativity and craft, 40 of Kenya’s finest bartenders have gathered to kick off the 10th anniversary edition of World Class Kenya, the country’s premier mixology competition.

The prize? A chance to represent Kenya on the global stage in Toronto later this year.

The competition has already seen record-breaking interest, with 301 bartenders registering and 163 submitting formal applications, more than double last year’s submission numbers.

“We’ve never seen this kind of excitement before,” said Suwilanji Ngambi, EABL’s National Advocacy Manager. “I’m beyond excited to witness our bartenders rise to this moment.”

This year’s challenge demands storytelling through mixology. Contestants must explain the narrative behind their creations while demonstrating drink versatility, technical excellence and sustainable practices.

The competition continues through April, concluding in a grand finale where one bartender will earn the right to represent Kenya against mixologists from more than 60 countries at the global World Class competition in Canada.
