“Kuna Kuna” hit-Maker Vic West inks deal with UMG EA

Kenyan producer Vic West has signed a deal with the Universal Music Group East Africa (UMG EA).

Mr West, whose chart-topping productions have dominated airwaves across Kenya and beyond, is celebrated for his genre-defining sound, blending Kenyan pop, Afropop, and Hip-Hop.

His signature production has earned him a producing credits for top artists in Africa and has shaped the sound of a new generation of East African music at large.

With this deal, Mr West will expand his creative reach and collaborate with global artists, pushing the boundaries of African music even further.

“I’ve always been driven by a desire to push the boundaries of my music and creativity. Signing with UMG EA felt like the perfect opportunity to take my sound to a global platform” Mr West said.

“Universal has an incredible legacy of supporting artists across all genres, and their vision aligned perfectly with my goals as both a producer and artist.

“Their resources, reach, and support will allow me to explore new sounds, collaborate with a wider range of artists, and truly elevate my work beyond just regional recognition.”

Universal Music Group’s East Africa division has been instrumental in championing African artists and producers who are making waves locally and internationally.

By signing Vic West, UMG EA reaffirms its mission to be a global leader in African music and build stronger connections between African creators and the global music industry.

The signing follows multi-nominated Afro-Indie artist Njerae’s signing.
