Morocco and Zambia qualify for WAFCON quarter-finals

Hosts Morocco and Zambia booked their slots in the quarter finals of the ongoing Women African Cup of Nations(WAFCON), tournament after winning their last group matches with an identical scoreline of 1-0 on Saturday night.

Yasmin Mrabet’s first-half penalty was enough to ensure the Atlas Lionesses victory over Senegal in their last Group A match.

Racheal Kundananji’s 9th-minute strike proved decisive as Zambia claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Congo DR in another match played concurrently.

Morocco finished the group as winners on 7 points, 1 point ahead of 2nd place Copper Queens of Zambia.

Group B will conclude their matches on Sunday night with Nigeria, who are already through to the last 8, facing Algeria, while Tunisia plays Botswana in another mat
