Nigeria ,Senegal,Tunisia and DRC start their AFCON campaigns with victories

Tunisia,Nigeria,Senegal, and DR Congo got their 2025 AFCON campaigns on with victories on Tuesday as the tournament entered its third day in Morocco.

Elias Achouri scored a brace, adding to Ellys Skhri opener as   the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia eased to a 3-1 win over the Uganda Cranes in a Group C fixture staged at the 21,000 seater Rabat Olympic stadium.

The East Africans scored their consolation goal in the dying minutes through Dennis Omeda.

At the Fez sports complex in another Group C match, four-time African champions Nigeria –Super Eagles fought hard to beat Taifa Stars from Tanzania 2-1 in a rain-drenched battle.

Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman were on target for the West Africans as  Charles M’Mombwa pulled one for Tanzania.

The Lions of Teranga started strongly by thrashing the zebras from Botswana 3-0 in group D thanks to Nicholas Jackson’s brace and Cherif Ndiaye late goal in  Tangier, while Theo Bongonda’s strike in the first half earned the Leopards a 1-0 win over Benin in an early group D match at the stade Al Barid in Rabat -the smallest venue of the 9 stadia.
