The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has flagged a fake advertisement circulating on social media that falsely claims to announce the recruitment of police constables.

In a statement, NPSC Chair Eliud Kinuthia urged the public to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

Kinuthia emphasised the importance of verifying such announcements through official channels clarifying that recruitment is a mandate reserved exclusively for the commission, which is currently engaging with key stakeholders in preparation for an official and legitimate recruitment process.

“The National Police Service Commission has noted with concern a fake advertisement circulating on social media purporting to advertise and announce the recruitment of police constables. We wish to categorically state that the mandate to recruit and appoint persons to serve in the National Police Service rests solely with the Commission, as provided under Article 246(3)(a) of the Constitution of Kenya” he said.

“We urge members of the public to exercise vigilance and refrain from engaging with fraudulent advertisements, which are designed to mislead and exploit unsuspecting individuals. Any communication regarding police recruitment can only originate from the Commission” he warned noting that the Commission is currently engaging with key stakeholders in preparation for a legitimate recruitment process.

The Commission is set to issue an official announcement regarding the upcoming police recruitment exercise through established and credible channels.

“For any clarification, members of the public are advised to contact the commission directly through telephone number 0709-099-000 or visit our official website. www.npsc.go.ke
