Police in Narok have launched investigations after a 14-year-old Grade 9 pupil was found murdered under unclear circumstances within the school compound of Narok Adventist Primary and Junior Secondary School on Saturday night.
Narok Central Sub-County Police Commander John Momanyi said the boy was discovered in his bed with a deep cut on his neck and was bleeding profusely. He was rushed to Narok Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed blood stains on a bench outside the dormitory, large amounts of blood in the boys’ toilet, and drops of blood near the clothesline. Police arrested the school guard, Julius Swakesi, who is being held to assist with investigations.
The incident sparked outrage in the community, with angry residents storming the school compound and setting one dormitory on fire.
Residents described the boy as healthy and cheerful earlier in the day, making the news of his death even more shocking.
Purity Munke, a worshipper at Narok SDA Church and a close friend of the deceased, said she had spent time with him during the day and called for thorough investigations to establish the truth behind the killing.
Parents also raised concerns about the school’s security and questioned the whereabouts of the caretaker, matron, and guards at the time of the incident.
They urged the management to tighten security and bar strangers from accessing the compound.
