Police, acting on intelligence reports, have recovered stolen livestock in Kowow Sub-Location, Elgeyo Marakwet County, following a successful operation.
The National Police Service confirmed the incident on Tuesday, 10th June 2025, stating that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat cattle rustling in the region.
Following the operation, the animals were formally handed back to their rightful owners in the presence of the Chief of Kowow sublocation.
“National Police Service reaffirms its commitment to combating cattle rustling and related crimes through enhanced intelligence gathering, timely response operations, and strengthened collaboration with local communities and security agencies”, it affirmed.
A similar raid was conducted in Samburu, where armed bandits were intercepted by police officers.
“Following a report of livestock theft by armed bandits in the Kabache area of Mutuati Sub-County, officers from the National Police Service responded promptly and launched a meticulous operation to pursue the suspects,” the NPS said.
The officers, who overpowered the suspects in the Kamanga area of Samburu East Sub-County, recovered 15 cows and 30 goats, which are now awaiting handover to their rightful owners.
