Police in Malindi have arrested seven suspects in a major operation on Monday as the crackdown on criminal gangs intensifies.
The intelligence-led operation, carried out by officers from Malindi Police Station targeted gang hideouts in the Soweto area of Malindi Sub-County.
According to police, the suspects were found armed with crude weapons and are being held in custody pending their arraignment in court.
The National Police Service (NPS) said the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organised gangs that have been linked to rising insecurity in Kilifi County.
“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Kenyans by dismantling criminal gangs,” NPS said in a statement, urging the public to share timely information on suspicious activities.
