Spain, Scotland, Austria, and Belgium have secured their spots in the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the conclusion of the UEFA group stage matches on Tuesday night.
Dani Olmo scored first for the hosts in the 4th minute, but 21-year-old Deniz Gül equalized with his first international goal for Turkey.
Salih Ozcan then gave the visitors the lead early in the second half, but Mikel Oyarzabal leveled the score for Spain eight minutes later.
La Roja qualified for their 13th consecutive World Cup finals, remaining unbeaten in their qualification campaign and matching Italy’s record of 31 competitive matches without a loss.
Belgium secured their place with a dominant 7-0 victory over Liechtenstein in a Group J match in Liège, while Wales ensured a second-place finish to qualify for the playoffs after a commanding 7-1 win against North Macedonia.
In Cardiff, Scotland defeated Denmark 4-2 to return to the World Cup for the first time since 1998, winning Group C with 13 points, while Denmark must go through the playoffs for a chance to compete in next year’s World Cup.
Austria needed a late equalizer to earn a crucial point in a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Vienna, marking their return to World Cup status for the first time since 1998.
