Taekwondo federation names team for Cadets and Junior Championships

The Kenya Taekwondo Federation has unveiled a formidable national team following an intense selection event held at Kenyatta University, as the country gears up for the upcoming Cadets and Junior Taekwondo Championships.

The trials brought together top talents from various clubs across the country, with athletes battling for national team slots in both the junior and cadet categories.

Fighters from Kilifi put on outstanding performances and won first place in several weight divisions.

In the Junior Boys 63 kg division, Zidan Dalinas won first place, followed by his teammates Kevin Ngala (Junior Boys 45 kg), Duncan Suma (Junior Boys 55 kg), and Clarice Pendo (Junior Girls 46 kg).

In the Junior Boys 59 kg division, Festus Tuti of Kawangware emerged victorious, while Mohammed Karamage from Miritini took gold in the Junior 68 kg class.

The Paradiso Club of Nairobi also had a great performance, winning the Junior Boys 51 kg division with a landslide victory thanks to Fedinand Odhiambo, Samuel Ochieng, and Jacob Ndambuki.

Paradiso’s influence was also felt in the Cadet Boys 45 kg category, where Elisha Ngugi clinched second place.

In the girls’ division, Swift Kicks’ Wendy Trina emerged top in the highly competitive Junior Girls 59 kg class, while Eldoret’s Mary Wanjiku secured gold in the Junior Girls 55 kg.

In the Cadet Girls 37 kg division, Lamu put on impressive performances; Linet Renson Taura and Vanessa Linet Kaindi took first and second place, respectively.
