Trainees Graduate as Kwale County Celebrates Vocational Skills Development

A total of 69 graduates were celebrated in a colorful ceremony held in Msulwa, Kubo South Ward, marking a key milestone in Kwale County’s ongoing efforts to equip youth with vocational and technical skills.

The County Governor also officially opened the VTC administration block .

Presided over by Governor Fatuma Achani, the event highlighted the county’s commitment to strengthening technical education through its robust network of Vocational Training Centers (VTCs).

Speaking during the event, Governor Achani emphasized that her administration is focused on building a generation of skilled and self-reliant youth.

“We are not just constructing buildings, we are shaping futures. These skills are tools for your independence,” said Governor Achani, urging the graduates to make the most of their training.

The Governor reiterated that the county has constructed 43 VTCs across Kwale, offering a wide range of practical courses such as Tailoring, Welding, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, ICT, Carpentry & Joinery, and Electrical Wiring, among others.

These courses are examined by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and cater to both school leavers and adults.

One of the graduates, Bakari Ali, who completed a welding course, said the training has changed his life:

“I am grateful to the county because I have not only attained a skill but one that guarantees my future will be secure.”

Governor Achani also highlighted the county’s support mechanisms such as bursaries and grants, which help students from disadvantaged backgrounds access training without financial burden.

The leaders present were encouraging parents and youth to enroll in VTCs to take advantage of the skills programs.
