Lavington Primary School has reclaimed its land after a 15-year battle, following a decisive intervention by the Ministry of Lands. Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, Alice Wahome, on Wednesday officially handed over the school’s Title Deed, reaffirming the government’s commitment to defending public property.

The land, originally allocated to the institution in the 1960s, had been partially lost to irregular allocations. However, recent investigations led by the Ministry, alongside key state agencies, facilitated its full recovery.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at the school, CS Wahome emphasized that land set aside for education, health, and other public services must be shielded from encroachment.

“The parcel of land, about 13 acres, is no longer in dispute. It belongs to Lavington Prmary School,” said Wahome.

The school’s administration and education officials welcomed the move, calling it a long-overdue act of justice. They expressed gratitude to the Ministry and pledged to secure the property moving forward.

The Ministry of Lands continues a broader national audit of public land, with Wahome urging other affected schools to report similar issues to her office for redress.
