Two charged with being in possession of uncustomed goods worth Ksh 7M

Two Businessmen have been charged at a Milimani’s Magistrate Court for being in possession of uncustomed goods valued at Ksh 7 Million.

The accused persons Dahir Ahmed Hassan and Abdifitah Ahmed Dahir were paraded before Senior Principal Magistrate Susan Shitubi where they denied failure to pay tax to the government.

The State Prosecutor told the Court that on 16th day of January 2024 at SAFACOM shop in Eastleigh area, Nairobi County the accused were found in possession of uncustomed goods namely 408 bags of HILWA milk powder of 25 kgs each all with a dutiable value of Ksh 7 million.

The duo are further facing a criminal charge of  importing 25bags levy totaling to Ksh 734,400 had not been paid, contrary to the said Regulations.

The presiding Magistrate was also informed that the suspects were found in possession of uncustomed goods without valid permit from Kenya Dairy Board.

They are out on a cash bail of Ksh 1.5 million each even as the Magistrate has directed their case be heard on three consecutive dates 14th, 15th and 16th May, 2024.
