Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s hopes of immediate freedom were dashed after the high court pushed the determination of his bond application by almost a month.
Waititu, who has been in prison since March 3 when he was sentenced to 12 years in prison or pay a fine of Ksh53.5 million appeared Wednesday at the Milimani High Court. He had applied for a fresh bond pending the hearing of his appeal.
Justice Lucy Njuguna directed that he remains in prison until 23rd April, when she will make a ruling on whether Waititu will be allowed to amend his application.
His 1st attempt was dismissed on 3rd March.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa were in court to show solidarity with the ex-county boss, who is a close ally.
