The Central African Republic (CAR) is making their maiden appearance at the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament this year in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
CAR, also known as the Bas-Oubangui Wild Beasts, is one of the surprise teams among the 19 nations competing in this year’s edition after shocking their neighbours Cameroon to seal their ticket.
They are in pool B of this year’s tournament alongside host Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Madagascar and Mauritania.
The Bas-Oubangui Wild Beasts will get their maiden CHAN campaign rolling on 6th August against Burkina Faso, at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.

CAR overcame Cameroon in the qualification round.
After losing 1-0 at home in Abidjan, CAR stunned host Cameroon in Bafoussam with a 2-1 victory in the return leg to punch their ticket.
