Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua continued his tour of the United States with an engagement with Kenyans living in Texas, where he reiterated the critical role of the diaspora in shaping Kenya’s political and economic future.
Speaking in Richardson, Dallas, Gachagua underscored the significance of the diaspora constituency, noting their significant contribution to Kenya’s economy through foreign exchange and remittances.
“I thanked them for their patriotism and continued voice on matters Kenya,” said Gachagua. “We discussed several issues, including electoral justice, politics and governance, constitutionalism, youth and GenZ participation in governance, and, more importantly, the state of our economy,”
During the interactive forum, Gachagua assured attendees that he had heard and noted their concerns regarding the situation in Kenya. He promised to continue his push for national renewal grounded in accountability, constitutionalism, and economic liberation.
“I gave them our greatest assurance as a people gearing for the liberation that we must re-boot the economic, political and moral direction of our country for the good of our future and generations to come,” said the former DP
He noted that there is a consensus among Kenyans both at home and abroad on the need to place greater emphasis on combating corruption, extrajudicial killings, discrimination, police brutality, and violence against women and youth, among other issues.
The Texas stop is part of Gachagua’s ongoing outreach mission across the U.S. to engage the Kenyan diaspora and promote the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), which he has described as a vehicle for political transformation and economic justice.
