CHAN 2024:Ruto offers a Ksh 2.5M per player if Kenya beats Zambia

President William Ruto has pledged a KSh 2.5 million reward to each player should  Harambee Stars  beat Zambia in their final group A match of the African Nations Championship this Sunday, 17th August, at the Kasarani Stadium.

Ruto also promised to give each player a two-bedroom house under the government’s affordable housing project and an additional Ksh 1 million should they qualify for the CHAN semi-finals.

“The Harambee Stars are proof of what unity can achieve. They have brought the country together, and we are all witnessing the success it is bringing to the nation. We stand behind you, praying that this time we win will CHAN because it’s within close reach,” he stated.

Speaking on Monday when he visited the team’s hotel camp, Ruto stressed the great role played by the Harambee Stars’ performance in the ongoing CHAN in uniting the nation and challenged them to lift the trophy.

“We’ve also agreed on rewards: a win against Zambia next Sunday will earn each player KSh2.5 million. If they triumph in the quarter-finals, each will be gifted KSh1 million and a two-bedroom affordable housing unit in a location of their choice.” Ruto added,

The President also honoured his pledge by rewarding the players each Ksh 1 million following their 1-0 win over Morocco.

Kenya will play Zambia this Sunday at Kasarani Stadium in the 8pm kick off as they aim to finish on top of the group and play their quarter final  at home.

Harambee Stars lead the group on 7 points, 3 points ahead of 2nd-placed Angola, while DRC and Morocco are joint 3rd on 3 points.
