‎The former Jubilee Secretary-General and Cabinet Secretary without portfolio thanks Uhuru Kenyatta but admits he can no longer add value to the party.

‎Former Cabinet Minister Raphael Tuju has announced his resignation from the Jubilee Party, stating that his political journey within the organization has come to an end.

In a letter to Jubilee Party leader and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Tuju expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Secretary-General from 2016 to 2022. However, he acknowledged that he no longer sees a meaningful role for himself within the party.

“It was an exceptionally bold political step on your part to have entrusted me with this sensitive position. While I still hold dear the values we shared, at the present time, I see no more value that I can add to the Jubilee Party. I therefore tender my resignation,” Tuju wrote.

In his letter, Tuju reflected on the ambitious efforts to transform Jubilee into a national party.

Despite his departure, he reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of unity beyond tribal lines, emphasizing that Kenya’s most pressing challenges continue to be unemployment and poverty, rather than ethnicity.

Tuju wished Kenyatta and the Jubilee Party well and expressed interest in collaborating with the former President on future projects outside of the party.
