13 players who recently participated in the African Nations Championship are among the squad of 23 named by Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy for next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at the Kasarani stadium.
Local players in the squad are goalkeepers Faruk Shikhalo and Byrne Omondi, and defenders Sylvester Owino, Michael Kibwage, Abud Omar, and Lewis Bandi.
Midfielders Alpha Onyango, Manzur Suleiman, Ben Stanley, Marvin Nabwire, Emmanuel Osoro, Boniface Muchiri, and striker Ryan Ogam.
Conspicuously missing from the named squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifier from the recent CHAN tournament is midfielder Austin Odhiambo, who had a good run and scored two goals.
Coach McCarthy has also called up young sensational winger Job Ochieng, who plies his professional trade at Spanish 2nd division side Real Sociedad B, for the 1st time.
Kenya will host The Gambia on Friday, September 5, 2025, followed by a clash with Seychelles on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Both matches are set to kick off at 4:00 pm at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Kenya sits fourth in their group, G, with 6 points, behind the Ivory Coast on 16 points, a point ahead of Gabon, while Burundi is 3rd on 10 points.
