Raila’s remains arrive in Kisumu ahead of public viewing

The military aircraft carrying remains of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has landed at the Kisumu International Airport ahead of the public viewing.

The body was later airlifted to the Mambo Leo Stadium, Kisumu County arriving at 8:48am, where the viewing is set to take place.

Mourners started streaming in at the venue early in the morning, they are seated and ready for the activity to start.

Odinga died on Wednesday in India where he was receiving treatment.

The government has beefed up security at the venue to maintain order.

Later the body will be transported to Bondo for an overnight stay.
