Kenya is strengthening collaboration with global partners to advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and ensure equitable access to quality sexual and reproductive health services for all.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Tuesday hosted a delegation from the Global Steering Committee of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Supplies Partnership, led by Mr. Anders Thomsen, to reinforce ongoing partnerships that align with the country’s UHC priorities.

The meeting underscored Kenya’s commitment to reproductive health commodity security and celebrated progress made through the Compact Agreement, a framework that has improved accountability and bolstered sustainable domestic financing for family planning commodities.

According to the Ministry of Health, Kenya’s consistent counterpart funding and budgetary support under the Compact have positioned the country as a regional leader in reproductive health stewardship and country ownership.

CS Duale said the government is reinforcing supply chain systems through sustainable domestic financing and the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), ensuring that family planning remains accessible, rights-based, and fully funded.

He noted the critical role of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and the Integrated Family Planning Logistics Management Information System (ILMIS) in enhancing visibility of commodity stocks and maintaining a reliable supply of family planning services across all counties.

“The government’s goal remains to strengthen national health systems through robust financial architecture, with the Social Health Authority (SHA) bridging equity gaps and guaranteeing comprehensive healthcare for vulnerable populations,” Duale stated.
