Katwa Kigen among six seeking Supreme Court judge job

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has received six applications for the vacant position of Judge of the Supreme Court.

Among the applicants is Court of Appeal Judge Katwa Kigen who was sworn into office earlier this year.

Also eyeing the position are Court of Appeal Judges Mohammed Warsame, Joseph Kiplagat Sergon, and Francis Kipruto Tuiyott.

The list further includes Anne Waceke Kiratu Makori and Lilian Wanjiku Wachira.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the Commission said the vacancy had been advertised on January 27, 2026, with the application window closing on February 17.

The JSC said it will conduct a stakeholder engagement forum on March 23 ahead of the shortlisting process, after which interview dates for shortlisted candidates will be announced.

“The Commission plans to undertake a stakeholder engagement on 23rd March, 2026 ahead of the shortlisting process and thereafter will provide a notification of interview dates for shortlisted candidates. The venue for the stakeholders meeting will be communicated.”
