Police in Migori County have arrested two men after several crude weapons were recovered from a vehicle in Yamase along the Nthiwa Road.
The suspects, Hillary Odhiambo and James Oloo Otieno, were arrested by detectives from the Operation Action Team (OAT) after they stopped a silver Toyota Voxy, registration number KDB 463W, at Yamase.
According to detectives, the vehicle was intercepted following information that a group of people suspected to be armed was travelling along the route in two vehicles.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of five pangas and other crude weapons. Police suspect the weapons were intended for use in criminal activities.
The two men are suspected to be members of a criminal gang and remain in custody alongside the recovered weapons as police process the case ahead of their arraignment.
Detectives are also pursuing further leads to identify and apprehend other people suspected to have been part of the group.
