Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of correctional services officers, enhancing prison conditions and strengthening rehabilitation programmes for offenders.
Speaking when he represented President William Ruto at the graduation/pass out ceremony for 36 Kenya Prison Service (KPS) Cadet Officers at the Kenya Prisons Staff College, Ruiru, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki urged graduands urged the graduating officers to uphold integrity, patriotism and fidelity to the law and the Constitution.
Consequently, DP Kindiki commissioned Wanini Kireri Magereza Level IV Hospital, Prisons Staff Training College ( PSTC), Ruiru, Kiambu County.
“Commissioning of the Wanini Kireri Magereza Level 4 Hospital at Ruiru marks a milestone in the delivery of quality healthcare to inmates, correctional services officers and the surrounding community,” DP Kindiki said.
With state of the art medical facilities equipped under the National Equipment Support Programme (NESP) and full Social Health Authority (SHA) accreditation, the 150 bed capacity hospital becomes the latest institution to advance Kenya’s ambitious commitment to modernize healthcare and medical infrastructure towards a first world economy status within a generation.
