Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, has reaffirmed China’s strong commitment to strengthening security and military cooperation with Kenya and other African nations. She reiterated that Beijing will continue working closely with African countries to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across the continent.

Speaking during celebrations to mark the 98th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Ambassador Guo declared that China is ready to be a steadfast force for peace and will continue to support efforts to address the region’s security challenges.

“We will deepen China-Africa peace and security cooperation and play a constructive role in safeguarding peace and security across Africa,” she stated.

Ambassador Guo identified Kenya as a strategic partner in the Horn of Africa, emphasising that China is committed to fostering a community with a shared future through sincere and practical engagement.

“China will adhere to the principles of sincerity, real results, affinity, and good faith as we build peace and prosperity together in this region,” she affirmed.

She also pledged China’s active role in international military cooperation, stressing that the PLA is dedicated not only to defending China’s sovereignty but also to contributing to global peace through public security goods and multilateral initiatives.

“The Chinese military has always been a steadfast force in upholding world peace. We will actively fulfil our responsibilities as a major military power and offer more support to international security efforts,” she noted.

Ambassador Guo further urged the international community to uphold the authority of the United Nations and defend the principles of multilateralism in maintaining global order.

As the world marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the establishment of the United Nations, she called for renewed global efforts to protect the post-war international order against rising unilateralism and hegemonic practices.

“Those with the bigger fist should not have the final say. We must coordinate international relations through systems and rules grounded in the UN Charter,” she stated.

At the same time, Ambassador Guo reaffirmed China’s commitment to a peaceful development path and the importance of drawing strength from history to shape a future of shared prosperity and peace.
