SportPesa Mega Jackpot winner Boniface Kamau says he has no intention of returning to his casual job after securing one of the largest betting payouts in Kenya.

Kamau was announced the winner of the Sh424,660,718 prize on August 4, 2025, after correctly predicting the outcomes of 17 football matches earlier in the year.

Speaking on Wednesday during a celebratory evening, Kamau cut a calm figure as he acknowledged the size of the windfall and the life changes it brings.

“Job ni kama imeisha. Hio imeenda hivo. Hio ni kama imeenda,” he said.
The remark loosely translates to, “The job is as good as done. That is gone.”

Kamau said he has used the SportPesa platform for the past ten years.

He added that the win will not change his habits as a fan of placing bets.

“I have been betting for a decade and I do not plan to stop now,” he said, noting that responsible participation remains a personal choice he intends to manage carefully.

Beyond his personal plans, Kamau emphasized a desire to give back.

He spoke alongside his wife about channeling part of the winnings into community support initiatives that can make a measurable difference for others.

“This is not only about us. We want to help where we can,” he said, without disclosing specific projects or timelines.

SportPesa Chief Executive Officer Ronald Karauri, who joined the celebrations, congratulated Kamau and urged him to filter the pressure and unsolicited opinions that often follow life-changing wins.

Karauri encouraged the winner to be deliberate with the money and to seek credible guidance.

“There will be a lot of advice, and not all of it will be helpful,” Karauri said.

He added that thoughtful investment can protect the prize and create long-term value, pointing Kamau to practical options that align with his goals and risk tolerance.

Kamau’s victory was secured by a flawless streak on a 17-match coupon, a feat that demands precision over multiple leagues and fixtures.

The payout, announced on August 4, capped months of anticipation for him and for fellow bettors who follow the Mega Jackpot numbers closely.

Friends and family described Kamau as grounded even in the glow of national attention.

The celebration closed with a brief acknowledgment of the journey that brought him to this moment.
