Governor Wavinya Ndeti has urged the national government to urgently release pending payments owed to mission and private hospitals.

She noted that the financial strain on these facilities is placing unnecessary pressure on county hospitals, affecting service delivery to Kenyans.

‎The Governor made the remarks during the burial ceremony of Retired Sergeant Onesmus Ngotho Makau, the husband to Mrs. Regina Nzisa (Mbengese) of the Governor’s Delivery Unit (GDU), where she also took a moment to reflect on wider issues affecting the county.

Calling for the Church to be supported and respected, she emphasized its vital role in holding communities together, especially during times of grief and transition.

‎On matters of governance, Governor Wavinya addressed the ongoing friction in the County Assembly.

She reiterated that  the Assembly is responsible for legislation and oversight, and called for accountability within the respective institution.

The governor made it clear that disagreements within the Assembly should be handled internally and should not involve her office unnecessarily.

‎She also highlighted key development milestones in the county, citing the drilling of boreholes in Mbondoni and the construction of ECDE classrooms as part of her administration’s commitment to improving basic services.

The classrooms are fully operational, with learners benefiting from both education and nutritional support, including milk provision.

‎In addressing urban growth and planning, the Governor stressed the importance of proper issuance of bus park licenses to ensure structured development in towns like Tala and Kangundo.

‎She also reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to education, stating that Ksh120 million has been allocated for bursaries, which will be disbursed to support learners across the county.
