An activist of resilience and individuality, Groovy Jo will release her new EP, “A Groovy Affair” on Friday, September 20.
This marks her return to the hip-hop genre which she dabbled in during her previous EP, “Pressure”.
Produced by K6, Lemario, Dope-I-Mean, Grammy Award-winning D.O speaks, mixed and mastered by rapper, songwriter and sound engineer Asum Garvey, this EP showcases Groovy Jo’s adaptability and willingness to explore different genres.
“With this EP, I’m going back to the hard-hitting raps, still pushing for female empowerment using provocative and raunchy lyrics in true Groovy Jo fashion. I’m also paying homage to a few of my idols, hence the title, ” she said.
Groovy Jo is an artist that uses her music to celebrate resilience, individuality and the fearless pursuit of dreams and passions.
Through her lyrics, she embraces her blackness and womanhood inspiring others to accept and embrace their originality.
In her art, she addressed the clichés limiting female rappers and women, encouraging them, instead, to claim their power and influence.
The EP will be available to stream on all digital platforms on September 20.
