New Hospital brings healthcare relief to Kajiado’s Oloilalei village

Residents of Oloilalei village in Kajiado South Sub-County can now access quality healthcare close to home after the construction of a new health facility, bringing an end to years of hardship.

The newly opened Chief Mpaa Hospital, a Ksh. 200 million project, will provide essential medical services, including inpatient and outpatient care, a modern maternity wing, and diagnostic services.

This milestone marks a new era in healthcare accessibility for the once underserved community as the remote residents will no longer have to travel for over 30 kilometers to access the most basic of health services.

The residents have had no dispensary and have to travel all the way to Mashuuru Level Four hospital, a journey that takes an entire day.

During the official opening of the health facility on Friday, residents were ecstatic when the Governor arrived with new medical staff to take up the facility.

The locals, especially women, said the facility is a dream come true after years of trekking in wildlife patrolling  far away hospitals in search of health care.

Kajiado governor Joseph Ole Lenku reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensure at least all rural villages have an easily accessible fully equipped health centre.

” Despite the resource hurdle, we endeavor to boost universal health care especially in remote areas. Such facilities also need water and power. The county has opted for sustainable green energy in all public facilities, “Governor Lenku said.

The facility which has partnered with Tenwek Mission Hospital College will also train local students in various courses to boost availability of medical specialists not just at the hospital but also in the County.

” Our partnership will see the health center grow into a referral hospital. TenWek Mission Hospital will offer medics and any other required support. Each year we will sponsor a local to our medical training School, “Said Bishop of the African Gospel Church ( AGC) Rev Dr Robert Lang’at.
