Kenya African National Union (KANU) party leader Gideon Moi has officially pulled out of the Baringo Senatorial by-election scheduled for November 2025.
KANU Secretary General George Wainana confirmed that the party will not field a candidate following Gideon’s engagement with UDA Party Leader President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, on Wednesday.
The new development leaves the race to the r the UDA candidate Kiprono Cheburet Chemite and five others.
Uncertainty over the former Senator’s next political move left several of his supporters who had gathered at Kabarnet Airstrip expecting to escort him to submit his bid for the seat in a state of disappointment.
Earlier, UDA candidate Kiprono Chemitei’s convoy was confronted by agitated KANU supporters at the Monument in Kabarnet, forcing him to use a helicopter from Kiptilit to reach the center and submit his nomination papers.
