Renowned Kenyan trumpeter Christine Kamau is set to showcase her unique sound at the upcoming Jazz and World Music Festival in Accra, Ghana, on April 26, 2025, as part of the festival’s highly anticipated 10th anniversary edition.

Hosted at Alliance Française, Accra, and sponsored by Societe Generale, one of Europe’s leading international banks, the festival will run from April 23 to 26, bringing together a vibrant mix of jazz, world music, and cultural showcases.

This year’s lineup features an eclectic blend of talent from across Africa and beyond, including Ghana’s own Wiyaala, Victor Dey, and Band Fra!, alongside Senegalese bassist Alune Wade and Swiss vibraphonist Thomas Dobler, among others.

Kamau expressed her excitement about the invitation, saying, “I am delighted to be representing Kenya at the jazz festival in Ghana. I’m looking forward to sharing our East African flavour of jazz music with audiences in Accra.”

A celebrated figure in African jazz, she has performed on stages across the continent and Europe. In 2019, she became the first Kenyan to perform at the Lagos International Jazz Festival in Nigeria.

In 2020, she was invited to play at the Festival Afropolitain Nomade in Kigali, Rwanda. And performed at the Festival of New Trumpet Music in the United States.

Her extensive performance history also includes appearances at the Yaoundé Jazz Festival in Cameroon and the Kigali Jazz Junction in Rwanda.
